At the grocery store, one coupon can change a man. Sharma Uncle says, I saved two dollars. I converted to rupees, loudly, beside the bananas. Then he pulls out a coupon. I pull out the coupon I saved inside a receipt from 1995.
Priya says, Ravi, we came for milk. I say, and now we are leaving with a victory. Sharma gets a discount on cereal. I ask the cashier if the coupon applies to the shopping cart.
Anaya asks, Dad, are you buying this because we need it? I say, no beta. Because it is on sale. My useful tip, compare the final price, not just the coupon. What’s your best grocery bargain?
Sharma calls himself champion. I say, fine, but I am keeping the receipt. For more NRI money stories, visit IndiaPay.com.
