School shows, where one song costs a fortune. In rupees, of course. I’m Ravi and Anaya’s school show is tonight. I asked, is the ticket on sale? Before, what time does she perform? Priya says, we already have tickets. One step ahead, as usual.
At the school, I see flowers for sale. How much? In rupees, that’s practically a small wedding. Anaya asks, dad, are you bringing flowers or a spreadsheet? I brought saved gift wrap. Sharma uncle bought a bouquet. Mine has better paper.
Then, Anaya walks on stage, spots me and smiles. I’m crying before the first note. Arjun says, dad, we live here. I say, I know. I’m just saving these tears for the whole performance.
